Bridging the Gap: Equipping Rural Schools with Science Labs at Vanchit Vikas Sanstha

At Vanchit Vikas Sanstha (VVS), we’ve been working tirelessly since 2002 to empower underprivileged communities in Maharashtra. Our mission is to create a future where everyone, especially women, children, and marginalized groups like the Adivasis, have the resources they need to live with dignity and overcome poverty. We achieve this by focusing on education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

One of the key areas we focus on is education. We believe that every child deserves a quality education, regardless of their background. This is especially true for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education, which equips students with critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for the 21st century.

Recently, we were thrilled to partner with CRY (Child Rights and You) Mumbai and InfoBip Foundation to donate a brand new, fully-equipped science lab to the Mallikarjun Vidyalaya School in Nhavre, Pune district. This state-of-the-art lab, valued at nearly ₹5 lakhs, is stocked with exciting science equipment for experiments on sound, light, and force.

This donation is a game-changer for the students at Mullikarjun Vidyalaya. Previously, hands-on science learning was limited due to a lack of resources. Now, students can actively engage with scientific concepts through experimentation and exploration, fostering a love for science and potentially inspiring future careers in these fields.

The new science lab isn’t just beneficial for students. It also makes teachers’ lives easier. Previously, they had to bring their own limited supplies, which was time-consuming and inconvenient. Now, all the necessary materials are readily available, allowing teachers to focus on delivering engaging and effective science lessons.
